Pro-SBY Group Eying Swing Voters

BATAM, KOMPAS.com - The Pro-SBY Club supporting presidential candidate Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) is eying swing voters totaling 72 millions for the presidential race on July 8. "The 72 million voters are the target of the GPS," its general chairman, Surato Siswodihardjo, said at the declaration of SBY supporters here on Tuesday.
    
He said the swing voters targeted by the GPS were first voters and absentees estimated to reach 72 millions across the country. He said the opportunity to garner votes from them was big because of SBY’s strong character.
    
Surato denied GPS was the success team of SBY. He said GPS was only a club of SBY supporters who wished to assure continuation of SBY presidency.
    
"As it is not a success team, the GPS has as its members people with various backgrounds including in terms of party affiliation and origins," he said. "Because it is not a success team, GPS is expected to be able to mobilize a lot of SBY sympahthizers," he added.
    
He said GPS did not directly collect votes but promoted SBY’s image.
