SBY to Name Jero Wacik Energy and Mineral Resources Minister

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono plans to name Tourism Minister Jero Wacik the country's Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, an official from the president's political party said Tuesday, ahead of an expected cabinet reshuffle later in the day.

Ahmad Mubarok, a member of the Advisory Board of the Democratic Party, also told Dow Jones Newswires the president plans to move Trade Minister Mari Pangestu to Wacik's current post, with the additional task of developing the creative economy.

“It was the party's recommendation to the president and he has agreed with it,“ Mubarok said.

As reported Monday, Yudhoyono is offering Gita Wirjawan, head of the official investment board, the post of trade minister. Mubarok also confirmed Dow Jones' report Monday that the president plans to keep Agus Martowardojo as Finance Minister.
