JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Besides being declared as a suspect, Abu Bakar Ba'asyir, counsellor of Islamic boarding school Al Mukmin, Ngruki, Solo, Central Java, is officially under arrest by investigators of Indonesia National Police's detective unit over his alleged involvement in funding terrorism in the country.
"It's official," said National Police chief detective Comr. Gen. Ito Sumardi at the Headquarters of National Police, Jakarta, Wednesday.
Ba'asyir is allegedly involved in terrorist groups holding trainings on Jalin mountains, Jantho, Aceh Besar. He has been held under Chapter 14 junto 7,8,11 and or Chapter 11 and or 15 Chapter 7, 9, 11 and or Chapter 13 points a, b, c of 2003 Terrorism Law No 15.
Ito mentioned that his men held a strong evidence on the fund disbursed by Ba'asyir to terrorist trainers appointed by him. Ba'asyir is also alleged of instructing leaders of Jamaah Ansharut Tauhid (JAT) to get fund and distribute it to the trainers.
